Project Blue Book Case File
Syosset, New YorkJuly 1960
Summary
On July 16, 1960, a civilian woman in Syosset, New York saw two strange objects in the sky at about 11:00 p.m. She first thought they were falling stars, then noticed their course was not regular. She called her husband. After several minutes he saw two objects at what seemed a great height, streaking across the sky toward the south. They flew a wavering course, then changed abruptly to the west. There was no sound. The objects gave off a reddish-orange light. The sky was clear. The witnesses wrote to the Air Force. The Air Force said the report lacked enough information for a valid conclusion and asked the witnesses to fill out questionnaires. The card noted nothing conflicting with an aircraft analysis.
