Summary
On July 31, 1955, in Spokane, Washington, a civilian reported one round, shiny object. The Air Force recorded the report under Project 10073, its official record for unidentified flying object reports.
The object looked about the size of a baseball held at arm's length. It appeared to drift slowly. The sighting lasted about fifteen minutes.
The Air Force agreed with the reporting officer. Officials concluded the sighting was probably caused by a weather balloon released from Spokane shortly before the report. The case was evaluated as a balloon.
