Summary

On April 22, 1957, military and civilian witnesses across the southeastern United States reported three to four objects at about 11:30 p.m. The case was logged under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The objects were described as a green ball.

The objects moved from north to south and disintegrated. They were seen at the same time by many people in places such as Pensacola, Panama City, Mobile, Montgomery, Lake Charles, Robins Air Force Base, Savannah, and McComb. One report from Thomasville, Georgia, described a brilliant fireball that broke into hundreds of blue and white parts and was silent. No noise was heard by any observer. The skies were generally clear.

The Air Force noted the object appeared close to all observers but was seen across the whole region at once, which indicated it was very high. The card concluded the sighting was a meteor of the bolide type.
