Summary
On August 20, 1952, about 8:20 p.m. local time, a Ground Observer Corps member near Schenectady, New York, reported an object low over the treetops. The location was about eight miles south-southeast of Schenectady. The observer had about six months of experience.
The shape and size of the object were not known. It flashed a white trail and made no sound. The observer said the object rose, paused, flashed, and then disappeared. It was in sight for a few seconds and was not reported until after it vanished.
Weather was scattered clouds at 12,000 feet with 35 miles visibility and light winds. No unusual activity was noted in the area. The record card notes there was not much information, and lists the case conclusion as unknown.
