Project Blue Book Case File

San Antonio, TexasNovember 1954

Unidentified

Summary

On November 25, 1954 (Thanksgiving Day), a resident of San Antonio, Texas watched a round, greyish-white object moving slowly across the sky. The object appeared to hover briefly at one point but made no sound. It left no tail, trail, or exhaust.

The investigation that followed revealed the likely explanation for what was observed. An H-13 helicopter was in the vicinity at the time of the sighting, flying approximately the same course as the reported object. This detail proved important to understanding what the witness had seen.

The case file is garbled in places, and significant portions of the OCR'd text are difficult to read with confidence. What remains clear is that the Air Force's investigation focused on distinguishing between the reported object and the helicopter that was known to be in the area. The file indicates the investigating officers looked closely at the witness's description, the weather conditions, and the flight path and capabilities of the helicopter.
