Summary

On the night of July 21, 1954, a civilian woman in San Antonio, Texas, saw an orange colored light in the sky. The sighting was at about 11:00 p.m. and lasted two to four seconds. The light was about the apparent size of an orange held at arm's length. It made no sound and left no tail or exhaust.

The witness was watering shrubs by lantern light when she saw a flash and then the light. At first she thought it was a shooting star, but it seemed too low and too large to be a star, and it was orange instead of white. The object flew a straight and level path toward the north, then passed out of view because her home blocked her line of sight.

The night was clear with a few scattered clouds and no moon. An Air Force major prepared the report and listed the cause of the sighting as unknown.
