Summary

On August 26, 1951, at 1658 (4:58 p.m.), a retired Army officer in San Antonio, Texas, reported a single object in the sky. He was reclining in his back yard when he saw it. The object was very large, dark in color, and described as resembling a delta wing aircraft. It was at very high altitude and moving at a high rate of speed.

The man followed the object from the south until it went out of sight in the north, a span of about 10 seconds. There was no sound, no trail, and no visible projections. The witness said it was traveling too fast for an aircraft. The Air Force evaluated the case as a meteor.
