Summary

On September 12, 1956, in Rossville, Georgia, a civilian witness observed an unidentified object for three to five minutes. The object was described as round and chrome colored, about two-thirds the size of the moon. It traveled from southeast to northwest and disappeared behind trees. The witness viewed it visually for three to five minutes. The Air Force evaluated the sighting as a probable aircraft. A returned Form 164 analysis indicated sighting probably caused by reflection in high-flying aircraft. The form noted the object round, about 30 percent of initial reported size, appeared like a mirror reflecting sun rays, traveled at 600 to 800 mph at about 30,000 feet altitude from southeast to north, and disappeared after 3 to 5 minutes near observing trees. The sighting was evaluated as probable aircraft.
