Summary
On July 27, 1952, in Ripley, New York, two sightings of unidentified objects were reported to the Buffalo Filter Center. The first sighting was made by a qualified ground observer at approximately 2:00 a.m. The observer reported one round object, roughly the size of a DC-3 aircraft, moving at 150-200 miles per hour. The object was white in color with no trail, exhaust, or sound and flew level. It disappeared over a building and was lost from sight. The second sighting was made by two observers, including someone with a private pilot license, at approximately 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on July 27, 1952. They reported one triangular object, moving red in color with no trail or exhaust and moving very slowly. The object faded from sight while moving away from the observers. Both sightings involved qualified ground observers. No physical evidence was available, no intercept action was taken, and no local air traffic was involved.
