Summary

On August 2, 1955, in Rialto, California, a civilian reported one round, yellowish-white object. The Air Force recorded the report under Project 10073, its official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The object looked about the size of a nickel held at arm's length. It appeared to bob up and down over a period of about ten minutes.

The Air Force noted the description matched a balloon. Officials said the duration and behavior supported that conclusion and marked the case as possibly a balloon.
