Project Blue Book Case File
Point Barrow, AlaskaOctober 1951
Summary
On October 31, 1951, around 2220 (10:20 p.m.) local time, an Alaskan National Guard observer reported a light near Point Barrow, Alaska. The light was similar to a spotlight and was seen about half a mile northeast of Point Barrow.
The observer said the light lasted about one minute and seemed to come from a point just above the horizon. Because of how it sat near the horizon, the observer believed it came from a vessel leaving the area.
The Air Force record card lists the object as stationary and marks the conclusion as Other, a searchlight. The comment notes this was a report of a light, not a UFO.
