Summary

On July 22, 1949, at 10:00 p.m. in Pocatello, Idaho, a civilian observer reported seeing one circular object in the sky for about 30 seconds. The object appeared to be a blob traveling at an estimated 2000 miles per hour. It was silver or white in color, approximately two feet in diameter, and moved in a straight line at first before showing a zig-zagged weaving motion. The object was spotted traveling southeast. A civilian pilot reported the object appeared faster than any jet he had ever seen. The Air Force concluded the sighting was a meteor.
