Insufficient Data

Summary

On July 2, 1957, an observer in Parkton, Maryland reported a sighting that lasted about two minutes.

The witness saw one ball shaped object about the size of a half dollar. It was white and brighter than a star. The object moved slowly to the north, then flared out and dimmed.

The Air Force record (Project 10073, its official file for unidentified flying object reports) lists the case as insufficient data. The comment notes the winds were to the east and southeast, and that a possible error in the reported direction could make a balloon the cause.
