Summary

On September 21, 1957, at about 2240 (10:40 p.m.) local time in the Panama Canal Zone, a military witness saw one rapidly moving object. It appeared to come through a gap formed by hills at a low altitude, below the clouds, which were at about 1,600 feet. The object made no sound and gave off a glowing light over its whole surface. It was about the size of a C-54 plane's body seen a mile away. The sighting lasted 5 to 10 seconds. The object suddenly vanished with what looked like a sharp upward movement. The Air Force record card lists the conclusion as astronomical, describing the object and its course as those of a bolide.
