Project Blue Book Case File
Oak Park, August 1949August 1949
Summary
In August or September 1949, a civilian in Oak Park reported seeing an unusual object flying over his house at regular intervals. The witness timed the appearances and observed the object return every eleven minutes over a span of about an hour. The object was flying roughly north-northwest and flashed with a bluish-white color that reminded the observer of a lightning bug. It appeared to be quite high in the sky.
The Air Force received this report in March 1950 and filed it with other similar sightings for future reference. No detailed investigation notes or witness interviews appear in the available case file pages. The Air Force's final evaluation was "Insufficient Data for Evaluation," meaning there was not enough information to reach a conclusion about what the object was.
The full case file, as held by the National Archives, is reproduced below in 7 pages of original documentation.
