Summary

On September 4, 1955, at 4:05 a.m. in northwest Atlanta, Georgia, eight civilian witnesses observed a round object like a light bulb, colored white-yellow and extremely bright. The sighting lasted 45 seconds to 1 minute. Witnesses described the object moving from south to southwest and then out of sight. An Atlanta Air Lines pilot also reported seeing the object. The Air Force investigation noted that AFSS records showed a B-36 aircraft with a searchlight operating from a blister on its side in the area at the time. The official evaluation was listed as Aircraft.
