Summary

On October 13, 1956, civilians at Newburgh and Unionville, New York reported sightings on the same night, at about 10:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. local time. They described one circular, white object with a red light that moved up and down. The object was watched for more than an hour and was still in sight at the end.

According to the reporting officer, a considerable number of balloons had been launched in the area at the time of the report. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably caused by a balloon.
