New Port, ArkansasAugust 1958
Summary
On August 14, 1958, a red, starlike object glowing very bright was sighted near New Port, Arkansas. The object was described as half the size of a dollar and disappeared instantaneously falling to the east. The sighting lasted 10 to 15 seconds. One object was observed moving east. A radar operator, Sergeant Raber from Joelton, Tennessee, considered the sighting reliable. The object was observed at 5,000 feet glowing brightly, positioned 42 degrees 5,000 feet to the east, then 30 degrees to the east, moving east and falling instantaneously. The description has all the characteristics of a meteor.
