Summary

On December 17, 1954, a farmer near Frenchman's Bayou, Arkansas reported that a meteorite had come down on his FM Farm. Upon examination, the source thought it was a burn with moldering of logs caused by meteorite. A 4502nd unit at Grandview AFB conducted a field investigation on December 17. The 4502nd unit reported that the farmer had a 1600 acre farm where rice was grown. The rice field was separated from the cotton field by a dike. Close inspection of logs showed spontaneous combustion had taken place, and some logs were smoldering. From the appearance of the logs, it looked like they had been on fire for quite a while. The owner noticed by the time it was observed that it looked like a burnt path of some object. The case was closed.
