Summary

On November 30, 1957, near New Orleans, Louisiana, military observers reported an unidentified flying object. The sighting lasted 20 minutes. Witnesses observed a brilliant white object about 8 inches in diameter that gradually descended from 70 degrees altitude to 30 degrees. The object changed color to gold, then red, and finally separated into three pieces. The largest piece measured 3 feet long and was oblong in shape. Two smaller pieces were about 1.5 feet in diameter and round. The object disappeared at an estimated 8 miles distance. Observers reported the sighting at approximately 2:11 a.m. on November 30, 1957. The Air Force evaluation was unidentified.
