Summary

# New Orleans, Louisiana - February 1955

During Mardi Gras celebrations in February 1955, four people in New Orleans saw an object in the sky that caught their attention. The object appeared as a round, orange or reddish light, roughly the size of a pinhead held at arm's length. The witnesses watched it for approximately four minutes.

The Air Force investigated the sighting through Flight 2-C. Their conclusion was that the object was a balloon that had been released as part of the Mardi Gras festivities. The case file indicates this was marked as "probably balloon" in the official evaluation.
