On March 9, 1961, an object was reported near Heppner, Oregon. The object was round and white, about the size of a half dollar. It was first seen at about 30 degrees elevation and disappeared at about 40 degrees elevation. An aircraft, a DC-6B, was noted in connection with the sighting.

On Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports, the comments said witnesses reported only a slight movement, which would fit the movement of an aircraft. The conclusion pointed to an aircraft.
