Summary

On September 19, 1960, a civilian north of Susanville, California, reported a cucumber shaped object that seemed partly transparent. The sighting lasted 30 to 40 minutes. The object gave off bright light and seemed to follow a truck. At one point it crossed in front of the truck. It appeared to float rather than move sharply. The object flashed four times, then vanished in a steep climb. The Air Force listed the case as a temperature inversion. The card noted the random movement, the length of the sighting, and the object's reaction to lights pointed to a probable temperature inversion in the area.
