Summary

On September 20, 1960, military personnel at a receiver site in Morocco reported a bright object overhead. The sighting lasted 3 to 5 seconds. Witnesses saw a bright ball trailing a long white tail that lasted several seconds after it passed. The object traveled from about 317 degrees to 132 degrees and disappeared near the horizon. The observation was made in complete darkness, with no moon, no clouds, and unlimited visibility. The Air Force listed the case as a meteor. The card noted the object had all the characteristics of a fireball.
