Project Blue Book Case File
Cincinnati, OhioApril 1960
Summary
On April 28, 1960, six children in Cincinnati, Ohio reported seeing colored lights in the sky over a fifteen-minute period. The sightings occurred at various times and locations around the city. The children reported seeing red, green, and white lights. Most individual sightings lasted only a few seconds. The lights always disappeared quickly and usually moved in random directions rather than in a straight line.
The weather that day was cloudy with haze throughout Cincinnati. An Air Force investigator noted that the random movement of the lights, combined with the low clouds and haze present, made it quite possible that the children were actually observing light reflections bouncing off the haze or cloud cover rather than a genuine aerial object.
The Air Force concluded that the sightings were probably caused by balloon or light reflections. The file does not indicate that any further investigation was conducted beyond the initial assessment.
