Summary

On June 8, 1954, at night near Manassas, Virginia, a civilian reported one object for about six minutes. It was round, like a coffee saucer, and yellow. The object first appeared stationary at about 20 degrees elevation and 270 degrees azimuth. It changed brightness and flickered on and off about three times. The object then suddenly sped up and rushed away to the east. An airliner passed from north to south, and the object seemed to rise to a position just under the airliner before heading earthward. The witness left to report it to local police, and the object was gone when he returned. The Air Force conclusion was probable aircraft, with maneuvers and flight consistent with that analysis.
