Summary

On January 24, 1955, a civilian in Macomb County, Michigan reported observing a round, bright red stationary object for three hours. The object was viewed through binoculars. Air Force investigators from Selfridge Air Force Base determined the UFO was actually a bright red marker light mounted on top of a fifty-foot radio antenna located approximately 400 yards northwest of the observer's location. The object remained stationary and in sight throughout the initial report. The Air Force evaluation concluded the sighting was caused by an optical illusion produced by the civilian observer.
