Insufficient Data

Summary

In June 1959, a woman in Lyons, Colorado, reported seeing an unusual bright orange object in the sky. The witness described the object as circular with sharp, clearly defined edges. According to the brief case summary, the object was traveling much faster than a jet and appeared to be tumbling. The witness initially tracked it but the object eventually drifted toward the mountains and passed from view.

The sighting came to the attention of the U.S. Air Force's Project Blue Book, which sent the witness a detailed technical questionnaire to gather more information. The witness completed the form, providing details about the time of day, weather conditions, and her observation of the object's movement and appearance. However, much of the handwritten response text in the questionnaire is difficult to read due to the quality of the microfilm OCR.

The Air Force's evaluation concluded that the sighting represented insufficient data for a definitive determination. No conclusive explanation for the object was recorded in the file. The case remained unresolved within Project Blue Book's records.

The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, comprising 24 pages.
