Summary

On July 19, 1951, at 4:50 p.m., a luminous disc was reported over Iberia, Peru. The object had an intense orange color and a metallic nucleus. It moved from south to north and was visible for one to two minutes, leaving a thick vaporous trail. The disc was observed at between 2500 and 3000 feet altitude during daylight hours. The Peruvian Corporation of the Amazon radio received the report. A newspaper article from Lima dated August 15, 1951, published a photograph of the object. An Air Intelligence report states that the U.S. Air Force examined photographs and determined the sighting was a hoax. The evaluation marked as Other: HOAX.
