Insufficient Data

Summary

On a December evening in 1960, a man in Kettering, Ohio, reported seeing an unusual object in the sky. According to the witness questionnaire in the Air Force file, the object appeared foglike when first spotted. It started out perpendicular (standing upright) but then shifted to a horizontal position, eventually becoming elongated in shape. The witness watched the object for approximately 30 to 40 minutes.

The Air Force investigator noted in the case summary that the witness appeared confused and uncertain about what he had seen. When interviewed, the man could contribute little beyond his initial report. The OCR text is difficult to parse in places, making it hard to extract precise details about the object's movements or other characteristics from the questionnaire responses.

The Air Force classified this case as having insufficient data for evaluation. No definitive conclusion about the object's identity appears in the available file pages. The case remains unresolved in the Project Blue Book record.

The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, comprising 8 scanned pages.
