Summary
This Air Force intelligence report covers five reported sightings of unidentified flying objects in the United States between March 29 and April 17, 1950. One main account is from Selma, Alabama.
On March 30, 1950, between 1808 and 1813 (about 6:08 to 6:13 p.m.) Central time, a man, his son, and a newsboy in Selma saw three round objects in the sky. The man first thought they were clouds, but there were no clouds and the sun reflected off them like metal. He said three circular objects flew in formation, then the middle one rose straight up and the other two followed. They looked like little glowing moons or suns and seemed as big as B-17 aircraft at 10,000 feet or higher. They moved west at great speed for about three minutes. There was no sound and no exhaust trail. The weather was clear.
A couple near Prattville, Alabama, reported three circular objects with bright rims the same day between 5 and 6 p.m. The report also mentions a photograph taken in Hawthorne, California, in March 1950. The file does not give a single final conclusion for the Selma sighting.
