Project Blue Book Case File
Hungary, January 1956January 1956
Summary
In January 1956, near Oroszlany, Hungary, a witness saw four strange objects in the night sky. The time was about 2230 to 2300 (10:30 to 11:00 p.m.). The observer was a civilian.
The four objects were dimly lit and each was triangular with a bright spot in the center. They formed a square shape in a level plane and seemed to be at about 3,000 meters. They rotated slowly around the center of the square, as if rigidly connected. While rotating, the group moved slowly from west to east. There were no exhaust flames, light streaks, or vapor trails, and no sound was heard. The weather was clear and windless with full visibility. The sighting lasted about six minutes.
The case is filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The record card noted the objects were possibly aircraft or gliders, and the Air Force conclusion was INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR EVALUATION.
