Summary

This case covers sightings in Guatemala on July 20 to 22, 1956, drawn from press reports by civilians. One report described four flying saucers, and another described one object. The case references an intelligence report numbered IR-59-56.

In one account, an ambulant police squad said they saw four flying saucers near a farm, traveling northward in low formation at high speed at about 11:00 a.m. In another account, a primary school teacher said he and his brother saw a luminous object in the form of a cigarette. It zigzagged across the sky at high speed, gave off pale red flames from behind, and rose toward the north until out of sight.

The Air Force concluded on its Project 10073 record card, the official record for unidentified flying object reports, that the objects were possibly meteors. The card also noted there was insufficient data for evaluation.
