Summary

On 22 June 1947, a civilian near Greenfield, Massachusetts, reported seeing an object in the sky. The sighting was made visually from the ground and lasted about 8 to 10 seconds.

The witness described one object that was round and irregular and looked like polished aluminum. It traveled on a course of about 315 degrees. The report card lists no photos and no physical evidence.

The Air Force conclusion on the record card was "A/C," meaning aircraft. A separate analyst note disagreed in part. It said the case did not allow for an easy astronomical explanation. The note added that the lack of a trail did not favor a meteor, even though the speed and brightness of the object might suggest one.

In a later review of Project Grudge cases, this incident was grouped under sightings where the evidence offered suggests no clear explanation.
