Project Blue Book Case File
ENID, OKLAHOMAOctober 1954
Summary
# Enid, Oklahoma - October 1954
A U.S. Air Force officer observed a half-moon shaped object in the night sky near Enid, Oklahoma, on October 15, 1954. The witness, a Lieutenant Colonel, reported seeing the object for about five seconds as it traveled from northeast to southwest at an estimated speed of 200 miles per hour and an altitude of roughly 1,500 feet. The object appeared grayish-white in color and made no sound.
The case file indicates the object was relatively small, approximately the size of a grape held at arm's length from the observer's position. Due to the very brief observation period and the absence of other corroborating witnesses, the investigators found it difficult to identify the sighting with certainty.
The Air Force's official evaluation concluded the sighting was most likely a bird with light reflection from floodlights in the area. The investigators noted that the object's speed, when analyzed in this context, was consistent with what a bird would be traveling at, and that the estimated altitude was probably considerably lower than the 1,500 feet initially reported.
