Summary

On July 20, 1952, at 12:27 a.m. Central Time, Mr. Scott and others at Rigid, Illinois observed a bright light moving very fast. The object was estimated to be 4,200 feet high and traveled 2 miles in five seconds before disappearing. There were no targets on radar. Sky conditions were clear to scattered clouds with 10-mile visibility. Captain P.J. Baudilitnas, Intelligence Officer, conducted a check at Yeates Observatory on July 21, 1952. Yeates Observatory reported a meteor 100-300 miles south of Williams Bay, Wisconsin on July 21 at 2245 hours. Lt. Col. [illegible] from Chanute AFB reports that many flying saucers were reported in the Rigid, Illinois area. He states the report in question may have been a jet type aircraft.
