Summary

On October 21, 1960, east of Formosa, a military witness aboard an ocean mail ship observed an object at 2:14 a.m. The object was described as a terrific large white flame leaving a prominent vapor trail, traveling at low altitude on a heading of 115 degrees true. The sighting lasted 8 minutes. The witness noted the object disappeared and the trail persisted for 6 minutes. The report stated the object was unlike a meteor and traveled at terrific speed. Very little additional information was available to investigators. The official evaluation was listed as unknown.
