Summary

On June 9, 1962, a civilian about 100 miles south of Springfield airport, Ohio, near Yellow Springs, reported an object in the sky at night. It was in sight for about 45 seconds to 1 minute.

The object appeared as a spot of light that seemed to move from northwest to north. Its color was yellowish-white and its shape was generally round. The edges of the object were reported to be blurred.

This report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force noted the sighting was probably an advertising searchlight being operated in Springfield, Ohio.
