Summary

In June 1962, residents of Dayton, Ohio reported seeing a bright object in the night sky. The witnesses described it as very large and estimated it moved slowly across the sky. The object eventually disappeared behind their house.

The Air Force investigation concluded that the sighting was probably caused by a searchlight. According to the case file, a searchlight was operating in the area on the night in question, and the witnesses' description of the light matched other reports of searchlight activity from that time period.

The Air Force found no evidence that the sighting represented any threat to national security or constituted an interplanetary visitor in any form.
