Project Blue Book Case File
DAYTON, OHIOAugust 1952
Summary
On the evening of August 7, 1952, a woman in Dayton, Ohio called to report seeing two disc-shaped objects in the sky. Her son had called her outside around 7 p.m. to look at something unusual. When she and her father-in-law went into the yard, she saw two oval objects in the southeastern sky moving slowly on a rising path before they disappeared.
The woman waited over an hour before deciding to report what she had seen. Because of this delay, she struggled to describe details like the objects' size, height, color, and speed with confidence. The Air Force investigator noted that her information was "inexact." It was still daylight when she saw the objects, which suggested to her they must have given off some kind of light or glow, though she could not describe it clearly. There were no clouds near the objects at the time, though some clouds appeared shortly afterward. She had no familiar objects in her field of vision to use for comparison.
The investigator verified the report by checking the phone book and calling the number listed at her address to confirm she was the person who had made the initial call. The investigator then ended the interview, concluding that further questioning would yield little additional information.
The Air Force classified this sighting as unidentified. The full case file, comprised of ten pages as held by the National Archives, is reproduced below.
