Summary

On August 26, 1954, a civilian reported two objects near Danville, Virginia. The witness was an engraver and minister. The daytime sighting lasted about 2 minutes with clear weather and visibility of 7 miles.

Each object was elliptical with a dome on top, about 8 feet by 20 feet. They were silver with an orange glow at each end. The objects were first seen hovering to the northwest at about 30 degrees elevation. They then climbed side by side, straight up, at a very high speed and disappeared. The objects grew brighter as they climbed. No sound was heard.

The Air Force record listed the conclusion as unidentified. The witness's reliability was listed as unknown. The case was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
