Summary

On June 20, 1956, near Dallas, Texas, a civilian reported one object. It was a ground visual sighting. The object was in view for about three seconds.

The object was delta wing shaped and about the size of a dime held at arm's length. It was dark in color. It had six jets in its tail, with the middle one appearing larger. The exhaust was greenish. At first the witness thought it was a meteor. The object was about 25 degrees above the horizon when seen. It descended rapidly, then faded after about three seconds.

The sky was dusk over north Dallas. The Air Force concluded on its Project 10073 record card, the official record for unidentified flying object reports, that the object had a tail or trail. Based on the description, duration, course, and color, the conclusion was that the sighting was in all probability a meteor.
