Project Blue Book Case File
Dallas, TexasApril 1952
Summary
On the night of April 16, 1952, a woman in Dallas, Texas reported seeing multiple colored objects moving across the sky. She described five objects in total: two red ball shapes, two white star-like shapes, and one green elongated object. All the objects moved in a straight line across the eastern sky, then made a single sharp 90-degree turn to the left before heading south and disappearing over the horizon. The sighting lasted over twenty minutes.
The woman reported the incident to the U.S. Air Force. Investigators found her to be above average intelligence and noted that she had previously reported a similar sighting. However, they could not confirm her reliability because she had no other witnesses to corroborate her account. No radar confirmation, photographs, or physical evidence of the sighting were obtained. The Air Force found no other citizens in the area reporting anything unusual that night.
Weather conditions at the time were recorded as partly cloudy with visibility near ten miles. No unusual military or civilian activity was reported to Air Force headquarters in the Dallas area. No interception or identification action was taken by the military.
The Air Force designated this case as unidentified. The case file notes indicate that investigators had read Life Magazine and were sleeping outdoors as Boy Scouts at the time, which led some officers to wonder whether media coverage might have influenced their observations. Still, the reporting officer stated that the observers appeared reliable.
This case file of eight pages is preserved in the National Archives at microfilm location T1206, Roll 9.
