Summary

On April 11, 1954, at 0230 (2:30 a.m.) in Columbia, Missouri, several people at the airport reported a single object. They described a bright white light, like an aircraft navigation light. The object approached the airport at rapid speed from the east on an even path. It then suddenly climbed straight up into an overcast cloud layer at about 2,500 feet. The object made no noise. The report came from people at the Columbia airport. The Air Force said the sighting could have been an aircraft. Because the report lacked enough detail, the official conclusion was insufficient data for evaluation.
