Summary

On July 7, 1956, in Cincinnati, Ohio, a civilian ground observer reported one object at about 12:20 a.m. local time. It was a ground visual sighting. The object had been watched for 25 minutes and was still in sight when reported.

The object was round and larger than a star. It was orange in color. It moved up and down and north and south in an erratic way. The witness watched it through binoculars.

The Air Force noted the possibility of a heavenly body. Atmospheric conditions could cause the erratic movements, and viewing through binoculars can also cause apparent movement. The color supported this. The Project 10073 record card, the official record for unidentified flying object reports, listed the conclusion as astronomical.
