Summary

On August 7, 1958, a family and their neighbors in Chalmette, Louisiana, reported unidentified flying objects at about 2030 and 2050 (8:30 and 8:50 p.m.). The witnesses described three objects, star-like in shape and color, traveling at high speed in formation with no sound. They reported the objects could stop in mid-air. This was a daylight or early evening sighting and the duration was not given.

There were jet aircraft in the area at the time, and a T-33 aircraft was sent up but found nothing. Two F-86 and two T-33 aircraft were in the local traffic pattern. The reporting officers considered the source's reliability doubtful. The Air Force conclusion on the Project 10073 record card was probably aircraft. Project 10073 was the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
