Summary

On October 1, 1959, in Castorville, Texas, witnesses reported an orange fire-colored, cigar-shaped object with grapefruit-sized feathery edges. The object was oriented vertically and moved very slowly toward the horizon. The sighting lasted 20 minutes. One object was observed. The object disappeared slowly into the horizon. Witnesses reported it was probably an isolated cloud glowing in the rays of the setting sun. The Air Force's preliminary analysis revealed no probable cause of sighting, and the evaluation was listed as unknown.
