Summary

On September 19, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia, a civilian observer reported seeing two objects during a one-hour sighting. The objects were described as round, green, and white with slight movement both vertical and horizontal. A smaller object rotated in circles around a larger object. The Air Force received the report at 8:33 p.m. on September 20. Witnesses reported the objects were similar to a brightly lit star or planet. No exhaust was visible. The objects moved upward and downward and then eastward to westward, with the smaller object rotating in a circular orbit around the larger object before disappearing. The investigation noted clear night conditions and checked with Agnes Scott College Observatory. The Air Force concluded the sighting was likely a weather balloon or astronomical phenomenon and found it unexplainable with the single source available.
