Summary

On June 13, 1963, the crew of the USS Chautauqua reported an object in the Pacific near 24 degrees North, 164 degrees East, at Ocean Station Victor. The witnesses were military observers aboard ship. The report came in as a MERINT message and was recorded in Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The object was described as round, bright white with a red trace. It was first seen low on the horizon and then shifted and rose rapidly. The time was logged near 1645Z.

The report gave little other detail. The duration was not reported and no fuller description was included. The Air Force said it could not evaluate the case on such limited information.
