Summary

On January 1, 1955, a military pilot flying a B-25 about 30 miles east of Cochise, New Mexico, reported one object. The pilot was acting as an instructor when he turned to a student and first saw the object. The sighting lasted about five to seven minutes. The object moved from the east-southeast to the west-northwest.

The object was described as a large, bright, sharp, metallic disc. It looked like two pie tins placed together at their rims. During the sighting, the object changed its position, showing both its edge and its circular surface to the witnesses. It paralleled the aircraft and then disappeared after about seven minutes.

The Air Force record, filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports, listed the conclusion as unidentified. The card noted a form was sent to the observer but no further investigation was directed. There was no report in the file.
